NHPPA Raw Milk Petition Website 500 x 500 August 2016

THIS PETITION IS NOT ABOUT A DIFFERENCE OF OPINION IN FOOD IDEOLOGIES BUT ABOUT THE OVERARCHING PRINCIPLE OF YOUR FREEDOM TO CHOOSE.

It also isn’t about having raw milk sold retail but about direct farmer-to-consumer relationships. It speaks against systems where individuals are not able to access food or products that they want, or more importantly, need. That’s why it matters to you. Raw milk is a controversial topic. More so, is the ever-escalating pervasive control that has had us lose access to natural health products and the way we choose to produce food.

The specifics here are about updating old milk laws to allow private raw milk cooperatives to exist. Right now, Glencolton Farms, run by Michael Schmidt on behalf of its farm cooperative owners, are facing a complete shut down of operations–after almost 30 years of providing raw milk to local families. This shut down extends to any farm producing raw milk and those families who attempt to access raw milk in Ontario.

This petition is a demonstration of the public’s will to assert that government should not stand in the way of informed consent by the individual to choose what they want to consume.

That’s why it’s important to sign.

Your e-signing asks for responsible small-scale certified herd share programs, or like private arrangements, to legally sell raw milk and milk products to their membership/cooperative. As of today, this independent farmer-to-consumer relationship is still criminalized.

This petition closes tomorrow at 12:00 EDT
