Canadian Public. People with the most to lose but with the greatest influence. Never has there been a more critical time to protect personal and collective rights and freedoms. Canadians fought hard to prevent Health Canada from regulating natural health products (NHPs) as chemical drugs. The Self-Care Framework does just that. The new system will do the opposite of what the Standing Committee on Health, the Government, the NHP industry and consumers agreed on. Canadians did not consent to losing rights over their bodies, nor think that truthful information about natural health options would be censored. Canada’s “NHP tribe” align their core values on the foundation of nature’s healing power. How to treat sickness or maintain health is in the hands of bureaucrats if the Self-Care Framework is implemented. It will be a pivotal moment. Health freedoms in Canada will be unrecognizable. Bill C-51 had nothing on this. The Self-Care Framework is complex and confusing. Shawn has the knowledge and experience to discern how limited our freedoms will become.
