Tell Health Canada NHPs Are Not Drugs

WHAT IS HEALTH CANADA’S PROPOSED “SELF-CARE FRAMEWORK” AND WHY DOES IT MATTER TO CANADIANS?

As set out in our Discussion Paper on the upcoming changes to the Regulation of Natural Health Products, we can expect the following:

      • The Natural Health Product Regulations will be phased out and replaced;
      • Natural Health products will be regulated under the same regulations as chemical drugs;
      • The draconian enforcement powers the government promised would not be applied to natural health products when Vanessa’s Law was passed, including the $5,000,000 fines, will be applied to natural health products (this has now been implemented with the passing of Bill C-47 on June 22, 2023);
      • The health conditions natural health products can be used for will be further curtailed;
      • Censorship of truthful information will be increased;
      • The natural health community will be subjected to administrative penalties and licensing fees;
      • Likely the compounding exemption will be abolished;
      • NHPs will be subjected to the same standards of evidence as chemical non-prescription drugs;
      • Traditional evidence will no longer be permitted for efficacy claims;
      • Access to effective natural health products will be reduced.
      • NHP companies will have to pay large licencing fees that will raise prices, take products away, and put some companies out of business

WHAT IS THE JUSTIFICATION FOR THESE REGULATION CHANGES?

All of this is being done without any scientific justification or political need.  As set out in the Discussion Paper Origin of the Self-Care Framework, these changes are being imposed by five bureaucrats without any justification, and without any regard for the expertise that went into our current regulations.

CANADIANS NEED TO MAKE THIS AN ELECTION ISSUE. OUR HEALTH FREEDOM DEPENDS ON IT.

The NHPPA is wanting to engage the natural health community into taking several actions with the following goals:

    1. Repeal Sections 500 to 504 of Bill C-47;
    2. Stop Cost Recovery for natural health product businesses;
    3. Reclassify NHPs as Foods, Not Drugs;
    4. Stop the Self-Care Framework;
    5. Enact the Charter of Health Freedom

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

The Natural Health Product Protection Association (www.nhppa.org) is leading a campaign to stop these changes and to protect your access to natural products and natural health care practitioners.

We need you to:

      • Visit our website and sign up for our newsletter.  This enables us to tell you about our campaigns;
      • Fill in and send one of the postcards at your health food store;
      • Watch our campaign page as we will be launching regular campaigns to demand that our right to natural remedies is not taken away.  We currently have a campaign to meet and write your MP;
      • Donate!  This campaign is too important to fail. The truth is, most campaigns fail because people do not support them financially. Contribute monthly to give this campaign momentum and the duration required for us to succeed.

TAKE ACTION!

Take Action – send our MPs and the Bureaucrats at Health Canada a strong message that we will not put up with these unfair and unjustified changes intended to destroy lives, businesses, and our freedom of choice in how we take care of our health.
