CREATE POLITICAL PRESSURE TO STOP THE CHANGES.
Health Canada has published a time-table for phasing in the regulation of natural products under the same conditions and penalties as chemical drugs. At the same time, it is reported that Health Canada has communicated that the time table may be delayed until after the next election as the government is concerned about the unpopularity of the upcoming changes. This communicates clearly that the time of action is now, before the next election. After an election, a government can bring in unpopular changes without worrying about political fallout. The anger will subside and be forgotten by the next election.
The NHPPA has a detailed plan to coordinate with other groups to bring about political pressure to have the proposed changes stopped now, while political pressure can be meaningful.
