Let’s Educate the Standing Committee on Health—Every Day!
Bill C-224 has cleared second reading and is now before the Standing Committee on Health — where the real work begins. This is the stage where bills can be strengthened, delayed, or weakened, and it is critical that MPs hear clearly and consistently from Canadians who support protecting access to natural health products.
We are launching a focused campaign to support Bill C-224 through committee and beyond. Head to the C-224 Action Page and take action daily — send e-letters, but even more importantly, make phone calls, send physical letters, and even fax members directly. These are the actions that stand out and get noticed.
Momentum got us this far — now we need to sustain it. Show up every day, take one action, make your voice heard, and help ensure Bill C-224 passes through committee as written.
Charter of Health Campaign Update — Keep the Pressure On!
Last week, thousands of you took action to support the Charter of Health Freedom, sending a clear message to Liberal MPs that form current government. The petition has been officially tabled in Parliament the size of the petition, 157,057 signatures, is such that the government must respond.
Now we escalate. If you’ve already sent an e-letter, take the next step: make a phone call, send a physical letter, and follow up again. If you haven’t acted yet, start today. Head to the Charter Action Page click hereand make your voice heard across every channel. Parliament is listening — let’s make sure they hear us loud and clear.
Can We Save Our Natural Remedies – Or Are We Wasting Our Time?
It is a huge win to get Bill 224 past second reading and into Committee. But will it make a difference?
In the latest edition of Health on the Hill in Vitality Magazine, Shawn Buckley reflects on the recent progress of Bill C-224 — which has now passed second reading and moved to committee — and asks the critical question: will this victory actually change anything? While moving natural health products out of the restrictive drug model is a major step forward, Shawn examines whether Parliament is truly prepared to protect access, or simply responding to pressure in the moment.
Drawing on decades of experience, Shawn looks at Health Canada’s long history of regulating natural remedies as drugs, increasing costs, limiting access, and steadily tightening control. He explores the growing reality that many Canadians are already being pushed toward alternative and even black-market sources to maintain their health — raising serious questions about whether the current system is sustainable.
This is one of Shawn’s most candid and thought-provoking pieces yet. Read the full article in Vitality Magazine to understand what’s at stake, what Bill C-224 could mean, and why continued pressure on Parliament is more important than ever.
