Chiropractic and Functional Medicine Remission
Dan Cooper

Dr. Dan Cooper is a chiropractic doctor from Alberta whose personal and family history shaped his passion for natural healing. He comes from the second largest chiropractic family in Canada, inspired by his great-grandfather who regained the ability to walk after a chiropractor helped him recover from paralysis following a car accident. Dan himself was a nationally ranked diver at 14 when he developed severe vertigo that left him unable to walk at times. After years of unsuccessful medical treatment—including the prospect of surgery that risked his hearing—he found relief through a chiropractic adjustment using the Gonstead technique, which cured his vertigo instantly after eight years of suffering. This experience confirmed his path into chiropractic medicine and expanded his lifelong advocacy for natural approaches.
In this interview, Dr. Cooper explains chiropractic’s role in removing nervous system interference and enabling the body to heal itself. He also shares his journey through functional medicine after battling Crohn’s and colitis for 18 years, including 10 years dependent on steroids and biologic drugs. Conventional treatments offered no cure, only symptom suppression with dangerous side effects. After studying functional medicine, Dan applied its principles and achieved full remission, restoring his health and quality of life. Today, he combines chiropractic, acupuncture, and functional medicine in his practice, helping patients with chronic conditions like disc injuries, autoimmune disease, and digestive disorders. He emphasizes the importance of food, environment, and lifestyle in health, warning that industrial chemicals, processed foods, and bad fats create chronic illness. His message to Ottawa is urgent: stop restricting access to natural health products, which are tools essential to helping Canadians achieve remission and avoid a lifetime of suffering. For him and his patients, natural products and holistic care are not optional—they are life-saving.
