Natural Healing and Defending Health Freedom
Lorene Benoit
Lorene Benoit, a long-time herbalist, educator, and author from Duncan, British Columbia, shares her five-decade journey in natural health and education. Founder of Benoit Health Education and author of *The Paw-paw Program: A Natural Approach to Cancer*, she has spent her life helping Canadians understand how herbs, nutrition, and lifestyle choices can restore balance. In this interview, Lorene reflects on how early influences, global study, and years of teaching led her to advocate for freedom of choice in health care. Her story is both personal and political—rooted in healing and teaching, but also in resistance to Health Canada’s growing restrictions on natural products.
She recounts how decades of safe, effective natural health practices are being undermined by overregulation that limits education, access, and small producers. Lorene calls for Canadians to stay informed, support grassroots advocacy, and help preserve the country’s herbal traditions. Her optimism and calm authority carry a clear message: “Education is the foundation of health freedom.”
