Overcoming Chronic Illness Through Natural Health Choices

Donna Kizuk

Donna Kizuk, a former registered nurse, shares her powerful journey of resilience after her health collapsed under years of stress and overwork. Within a short span, she was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, alopecia universalis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and more. Conventional medicine offered little beyond painkillers and antidepressants, with one doctor even telling her to “accept this as her new normal.” Refusing to give up, Donna turned to research and natural health approaches, including supplements, tinctures, fermented foods, colon hydrotherapy, and liver flushes. Over time, she regained much of her strength, weaned off pharmaceuticals, and reclaimed her life.

In the interview, she recounts how she built a new lifestyle on her family farm, raising animals naturally, relying on fermented foods, and eliminating chemicals from her home. Donna also shares how she helped her daughter-in-law overcome ulcerative colitis and restore her health through supplements and diet changes—transformations that left even doctors surprised. Today, Donna lives at about “70% better” than her worst days and passionately urges Ottawa to protect Canadians’ access to affordable natural health products. She warns that removing these options will leave countless people without solutions, increasing suffering and placing even greater strain on the medical system.
