Pediatric ER to Children’s Health Advocacy
Michelle Perro

Dr. Michelle Perro is a veteran pediatrician with over 40 years of experience in acute and integrative medicine. Trained in pediatric emergency medicine, she once directed a major ER in New York City and helped pioneer board certification in the field. Her career shifted when her own son’s severe croup responded dramatically to a homeopathic remedy, opening her eyes to a medical system she had never been taught. She went back to school to study homeopathy and later opened an integrative urgent care clinic, blending conventional and natural approaches. Over time, she noticed rising rates of chronic conditions in children—autism, gut disorders, ADHD—which she connected to the introduction of genetically modified foods and widespread pesticide use. She co-authored *What’s Making Our Children Sick?* with medical anthropologist Dr. Vincanne Adams, documenting how industrial food, GMOs, and glyphosate are harming children’s health.
In this interview, Dr. Perro shares her journey from elite academic pediatrician to outspoken advocate for holistic pediatric care. She explains how glyphosate disrupts children’s microbiomes, binds essential minerals like magnesium and zinc, and even shuttles aluminum into the brain—factors she links to rising autism and ADHD rates. She describes the crisis of fatty liver in both obese and lean children, the contamination of infant formula with toxic metals, and the nutritional collapse of ultraprocessed foods. Yet she emphasizes solutions: organic and regenerative food, breastfeeding support, homeopathy, and empowering families to take health into their own hands rather than relying on government agencies she believes have failed to protect children. Her message to Ottawa and beyond is clear: stop corporate-driven assaults on food and medicine, and safeguard parents’ right to choose natural, life-saving options for their kids.
