Did you know that Health Canada’s regulatory approach to natural health products (NHPs) is changing under the Self-Care Framework? The Self-Care Framework could impose new requirements, such as higher evidence standards for health claims and increased costs for businesses, which may limit the availability of NHPs. These excessive regulations restrict access to safe, effective NHPs and are made without transparency or public input.
Health Canada’s policies, including those under the Self-Care Framework, could significantly limit access to the natural health products millions of Canadians rely on for their wellbeing. Many Canadians are concerned these regulations may unnecessarily restrict their ability to make personal health choices. While reasonable safety standards are important, the current approach fails to recognize the unique nature of NHPs or the importance of preserving access. That’s why we’re calling on Health Canada to replace the Self-Care Framework with regulations that respect the unique nature of NHPs, and conduct a full policy review through meaningful public consultation
Your right to choose natural health products is under threat. Help us challenge Health Canada’s authority to make decisions about your health without your consent. We’re demanding answers: Who granted them the authority to make decisions about your health? And whose interests are they truly prioritizing—yours or theirs? Together, we can reclaim our health freedom and hold them accountable.
You can make a difference by reaching out directly to the bureaucrats and decision-makers driving these policies. Send a letter to ministers, policy makers, and regulatory departments demanding an end to the Self-Care Framework and calling for transparency in developing balanced regulations that protect access to these vital products.

We have provided four form letter options below.
However, if you have the capacity to write your own letter, in your own words, we strongly encourage you to do so. Personalized letters hold much more weight with Health Canada officials.
