Bill C-224 Aims to Protect Our Access to NHPs – But Was Shot Down by Health Committee

On October 7, Liberal members of the Health Committee gutted Bill C-224. The bill was meant to pull natural health products out of the most restrictive drug category under the Food and Drugs Act.

In his new Health On the Hill column for Vitality Magazine, Shawn Buckley explains:

  • How essential nutrients like vitamin C and magnesium are still treated as dangerous drugs
  • Why the committee’s decision ignored clear public support and proceeded without understanding the real consequences
  • How this outcome reveals a deeper breakdown, with unaccountable ministries driving health policy while Parliament is reduced to political theatre

There is still one narrow window left to restore the original bill at Report Stage on December 3. Whether that happens depends on the pressure Canadians apply now.

Read Shawn’s full column to see the evidence from the committee hearings and what action remains possible.
