The Canadian government is using fear to justify restrictions on our freedom to access natural health products.
In the House of Commons, exaggerated claims about adverse events and hospitalizations linked to natural health products are repeated.
Yet, when it comes to evidence and details, there’s nothing to back them up.
Were these alleged adverse events caused by misuse? By interactions with pharmaceuticals? By people misreading labels? We don’t know.
Without transparency, how can Canadians trust these claims?
The truth is, the Canadian natural health industry is already well-regulated and has an impressive safety record. There is no valid reason for Health Canada to be pushing pharmaceutical-style regulations onto this industry, especially when doing so will result in business closures and lost products.
