Did you know?
Bill C-47, Canada’s 2023 Budget Bill, quietly introduced major changes to the regulation of natural health products (NHPs).
These changes were buried deep in sections 500-504 of the budget, and their impact could be devastating for anyone who values access to natural health products.
It’s completely inappropriate for the government to sneak non-budgetary amendments to food and drug law into a budget bill. By doing so, these changes bypass proper scrutiny from the Standing Committee on Health and are instead reviewed by the Standing Committee on Finance—who have no expertise in food, drug law, or human health.
We must repeal sections 500-504 of Bill C-47!
