The restrictive nature of the drug model stifles the growth of the natural health industry while promoting the development of pharmaceutical products.
The drug model has three parts:
- Define “drug” so broadly that it includes anything ingested for a health purpose.
- Make every drug illegal unless it has been approved by the government and granted a license.
- Make the approval process so expensive that only patented chemical drugs can receive a license.
