Health Canada’s over-regulation is threatening our access to natural health products. New fees, fines, and red tape are making it impossible for small and medium-sized companies to stay in business.
Sections 500 to 504 of Bill C-47 have reclassified natural health products as ‘therapeutic products’, placing them in the same regulatory category as over-the-counter pharmaceutical drugs. These changes are leading to costly restrictions that many products won’t survive.
If passed, Bill C-368 can repeal this harmful change and restore the status quo on natural health product regulation. Unfortunately, on November 21, 2024, NDP Health Critic Peter Julian introduced an amendment to Bill C-368 that threatens to undo the progress we’ve made to protect natural health products (NHPs)—and we all need to speak up, URGENTLY!
Send an electronic letter to the Standing Committee on Health (including Peter Julian) with just a few clicks. The letter lets them know that you disagree with Peter Julian’s proposed amendment, and demand they support Bill C-368 in its original form.
We need to apply enough political pressure on our Members of Parliament that they reject this amendment. This amendment could be back under discussion as early as this coming week. Time is of the essence!
