What’s New With Bill C-368?

With fall here, and Parliament about to resume, we’re ramping up our efforts to ensure Bill C-368 continues to progress through the parliamentary process.

This Bill, introduced by MP Blaine Calkins, aims to protect the natural health industry in Canada by repealing the burdensome regulations introduced by Bill C-47, Canada’s 2023 Budget Bill.

You might remember that Bill C-368 successfully passed second reading in the House of Commons on May 29th.

This fall, Bill C-368 will be studied by the Standing Committee on Health, where industry stakeholders will have their say, in-depth examinations will be conducted, and witnesses will be called to testify on the merit and importance of the bill.

We’ve Registered a New E-Petition to Gather Support for Bill C-368!

You might recall that we asked you to sign an e-petition supporting Bill C-368 during the spring, which might lead you to question…

Why do we need a new petition?

Drafted By NHPPA:
The previous petition was, no doubt, helpful and beneficial, and we appreciate everyone who took part in that initiative this spring.
This new petition has been carefully crafted by NHPPA to ensure that the language aligns with our mission to protect the natural health industry, encompassing as many stakeholder viewpoints as possible—from retailers to manufacturers, and practitioners to citizens.

Strategic Timing:
E-petitions in Canada can only be presented in the House of Commons once they’ve closed. This means that the timing of when a petition is registered and closed is critical. We’ve strategically registered this petition to ensure it will close before Parliament recesses for the winter break, giving the petition maximum impact when Bill C-368 is under consideration this fall.

Maximum Impact:
An e-petition not only amplifies the voices of concerned citizens but also keeps the issue front and center as it moves through the legislative process. When a petition is tabled while a bill is under study by the Standing Committee on Health, it can influence committee discussions by showing tangible public concern and engagement. With Bill C-368 on the committee table, our new petition can serve as a critical tool in swaying decision-makers toward a more favourable outcome for the natural health industry.

Get involved and support Bill C-368.
